HIGHLIGHTS
While SAS isn’t a new airline to be featured in a Just Planes video, the A320neo is a newcomer to the SAS fleet and the airline industry in general. Since we all love taking a look at new toys, it was a most welcome announcement when Just Planes posted that the A320neo would be featured in an upcoming video. With the A320neo being introduced into airline service back in 2016, at its core, this aircraft is still the A320 we have all come to love, but with newer and larger engines that offer up to 15% better fuel efficiency.
Throughout this program, you will have the privilege of examining the operations of the SAS A320neo on flights from Stockholm to the destinations of Malaga (Spain) and Split (Croatia). On our first flight from Stockholm to Malaga, viewers are first taken on an exterior walk-around of the aircraft which takes a closer look at the new engines of this aircraft. After a detailed inspection of the aircraft, we join the crew as they setup the MCDU and make use of the CPDLC for requesting their clearance. For those of you who enjoy some of the more technical aspects of aviation, you will also enjoy segments where the crew calculates takeoff performance using their tablets.
Other highlights from our first round trip includes engine startup procedures, diverting from a buildup of bad weather, review of departure procedures and enroute information and a short but insightful cockpit presentation.
On our second round trip to Split, our two main highlights are presentations by the Captain as she shows the viewers how he prepares for each flight and an informative presentation on the differences between the A320ceo and the A320neo. For anyone who is an avid fan of Airbus aircraft, this segment will by far be the most intriguing aspect of this video presentation. To aviation enthusiasts in general, this program offers an insightful look at the crucial role played by the pilots at SAS and it nicely showcases their friendly and professional demeanor. While it would have been nice to have more flight featured in this program, the highlights of this program were sufficiently captivating and I think every will enjoy taking a closer look at the newest workhorse of the Airbus fleet.
