HIGHLIGHTS

DAT (Danish Air Transport) is one of the newest airlines to join the HD Cockpit Series produced by Just Planes. While paying tribute to the amazing MD-83, this program also feature some of the unique destinations flown by DAT. These destinations include Copenhagen, Riga, Montpellier, Stockholm and Venice. From the list of destination features, it’s clear to see that this program has no shortage of scenic views from the cockpit while on takeoff and approach. While the scenery outside of the cockpit was amazing, we can’t forget about the cockpit experience. With numerous cameras mounted throughout the cockpit, viewers will be fully immersed in the cockpit environment while following the actions of the pilots as they fly the aircraft.

Other highlights you may find intriguing are the pilot presentations which offer you a unique look at the aircraft and the operations of the airline. Starting off with a cockpit presentation, the Captain takes the viewers around the cockpit while explaining some of the unique feature of the MD-83 and its reliability vs newer aircraft which is unmatched. Following the presentation on the cockpit, you will also be treated to a detailed walk-around inspection of the aircraft with the beautiful lines of this aircraft can be admired from a perspective few have the privilege of enjoying.

One of the final highlights I thought was very impressive was the presentation on the airline operations and the privilege had by DAT to fly the FIFA World Cup Trophy around the world. This 8 month contract saw the MD-83 spread its wings around the world thus proving the stunning capabilities of this aircraft. One of the reasons why this presentation was enlightening to me personally, we that I recalled the day that this aircraft flew to my home country of Grenada. Hearing the story behind this journey and how well the MD-83 performed will only cement in our minds how outstanding this aircraft truly is. With the MD-83 sadly being phased out of passenger operations, this program will undoubtedly pay homage to this aircraft and be a fine documentary behind the airline that took this aircraft around the world.
