HIGHLIGHTS
When it comes to challenging airports, few can argue that Paro airport isn’t one of the most challenging commercial airports in the world. With this airport being well known for its challenging approach to a runway surrounded by mountainous terrain requiring an immediate sharp turn to final, it goes without saying that seeing airliners flying in and out of this airport is an aviation lover’s paradise. In this program we will be following the flight crew of Drukair onboard the A319 and ATR-42 as they fly to destinations such as Kathmandu, Guwahati, Bangkok, Dhaka and Bathpalathang.
While I thoroughly enjoyed flying to these destinations, the highlight of this video is by far the takeoffs and landings at Paro. Given the challenges of flying in this region, it was quite impressive to see the level of skill and planning that goes into each flight. The pilots at Drukair are undoubtedly very skilled and their cool and calm demeaning at each step in surely a reassuring sight for the viewers. In addition to the wonderful display of piloting ability, this program also offers the viewers a bit more insight into flying the A319, ATR 42, Bhutan culture and other interesting details about this region. The sights from the cockpit that were captured were stunning to say the least and it was also a very nice gesture on the part of the flight crew to highlight points of interest such as Mt. Everest. Ultimately, this program was a pleasure to look at and it provided an intriguing look at the hard working pilots of Drukair to the benefit of all aviation enthusiasts.
