HIGHLIGHTS
If you have a love for classic aircraft, this is a documentary is certainly one not to be missed. In addition to featuring more modern aircraft such as the B777 and the ATR42, this video features the operations of the B737-300, A310-300 and 747-300. The latter 3 aircraft aren’t commonly seen in passenger operations today and it was quite interesting to see how these aircraft are still being fully utilized. In addition to flying in the cockpit of classic aircraft, you will also experience some of the most challenging takeoffs and approaches throughout Pakistan. For example, With Pakistan having airports nestled between mountainous terrain, the landing and takeoff at Skardu and Gilgit were some of the most exciting moments of this program. While the pilots made many of these approaches seem easy, it was certainly a strong indication that PIA pilots are very well trained and have mastered flying their given aircraft. While on the topic of training, this video also features an interesting segment on simulator training. In this segment you will see two PIA pilots fly the B777 simulator and you will also be introduced to the B747 Classic simulator. While I do enjoy modern aircraft, learning more about the B747 Classic was a unique treat that I think everyone will enjoy.
As a final note on the overall editing of this video, Just Planes provides numerous camera views within the cockpit and cabin of the aircraft for your viewing pleasure. A feature that has become very popular over the years is the ability to see a replay of a landing with an unobstructed forward view from the cockpit. During landings and approaches, this view allows you to enjoy the beautiful scenery around Pakistan and it gives you the pilot’s perspective on flying into some of the more challenging airports. Ultimately, this video is quite a gem and I think that everyone who enjoys classic aircraft will enjoy every moment of this program.
