HD Mesh Scenery v4 for X-Plane 11

HD Mesh Scenery v4 can be seen as a vastly improved version of the default scenery shipping with XP11. It is using/referencing the exact same set of artwork files (textures, object, autogens, forests) which ship with XP11, so you do not need other art assets to be installed while HD Mesh Scenery v4 will also benefit from any artwork improvements (autogen, texture) coming with future XP11 versions.

The most important advantages of HD Mesh Scenery v4 are
• The triangle mesh resolution is far higher than in the default mesh and even a bit above the level of the previous HD Mesh Scenery v3:: ◦ this give – obviously – better DEM (elevation data) representation (slopes, mountains etc.)
◦ BUT this also vastly(!) improves the landclass data representation (which in X-Plane is very closely coupled with the triangle size in the mesh). This is most obvious with forest detail.

• The vector data simplification is less aggressive than in the default mesh (where Laminar needed to do that to limit the overall size of the global scenery). Thus road / railroad bendings are more accurate and the same is true for rivers, shorelines (but where the OSM raw data is bad, this can’t help much either)
• HD Mesh Scenery v4 also has the new “high buildings” feature included, which I introduced with Laminar in XP11. This puts all (well, with some filtering of not reasonable stuff from OSM)  buildings > 20m “height” or > 5 “building:levels” as some “high building” object (with a more or less correct height – as defined in OSM) in the scenery (“building:levels” are simply multiplied by 4m to get an approximate height). This usually gives most cities a much better look  (New York is a great example, where in OSM almost all buildings already have a height defined). This same approach also “imports” antennas / masts from OSM (as antenna obstacles)
• OSM data is updated (its “date stamp” is 1st October 2017) . Which makes it newer than current XP11 default mesh data and of course much, much newer than the data in HD Mesh Scenery v3.
• Most of the Landclass data has seen an update (which already happened with my work for the XP11 default scenery … but HD Mesh Scenery v4 can represent the high res landclass data much better)

• Europe (from the Canaries and Iceland in the west up to Moscow an and most parts of Israel in the East)
• North America (USA, Alaska, Canada)
• South / Central America
• Australia
• Japan
• Hawaii and most of the tiny Pacific Islands
• Australia
• Himalaya

(Coverage to the north ends at 73 N !)

And a Warning!
• The scenery requires at least X-Plane 11.00 !!! IT WILL NOT WORK WITH X-Plane 10.xx!

FlightSimExpo ANNOUNCES JUNE 2018 ARRIVAL IN LAS VEGAS

LAS VEGAS – December 8 – FlightSimExpo 2018, a new, community-driven flight simulation conference, will be held the weekend of June 9-10, 2018 at Flamingo Las Vegas Resort. Located in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip and minutes from the airport, Flamingo Las Vegas Resort has newly-renovated rooms, modern meeting space, a great rewards program, and features a Caribbean-style water park and tropical wildlife habitat.

FlightSimExpo 2018 will feature a variety of interactive exhibits, and a host of educational and informative seminars from professionals across the aviation and flight simulation industries. In addition, there will be social events after conference hours for networking and connecting with other simulation enthusiasts, aviation professionals, and developers from across the simulation industry.

The conference was formed by a group of community organizers from Boston Virtual ARTCC who have years of experience in flight simulation, aviation, and event planning. FSExpo plans to bring simulation enthusiasts, current and former aviation professionals, and anyone else who has an interest in flight simulation or aviation together to witness the advances and developments within the industry. This conference is truly community-driven: the venue, host city, and activities have all been determined by feedback from the community and developers. Early support from Orbx, X-Plane, and almost 30 others have helped turn this event into a reality.

HJG (Historic Jetliners Group) take great pleasure announcing its Christmas releases .... the groups 6th website update for the 2017 year during which it has released well over 300 new and upgraded files.
 
It's customry for HJG to conclude each calendar year with a major website update composed of either an abundance of product or a new release .... or even surprise or two.
 
This year and as part of its Christmas website update the group is doing all of the above .... as follows :-
 
(1)  "NEW" B737-300, B737-400, and B737-500 models have been released after precisely a tear in development .... supported by more than 70 high quality textures featuring operators from all corners of the globe; Customized FDE; And authentic "NEW" CFM-56 soundpacks by Benoit PLAMONDON.
 
(2) An impressive "NEW" simulation of the AMD MERCURE 100 by Mario NORIEGA has also been released following more than 2 years of development work .... supported by superbly featured 2D and VC panels; 8 textures representing each livery ever supported by this classic French jetliner; Customized FDE; And an authentic "NEW" P&W JT8D soundpack also by Benoit PLAMONDON.  
 
BUT .... HJG's news of Christmas spirit and cheer doesn't end there :)
 
Also included within this release are "upgraded textures" for DC-8-55F .... featuring the classic late 60's/early 70's colour schemes of both Dutch and US carriers; A DC-9-15 resplendent in the identity of a premier Seattle based US football team; AND .... a selection of DC-10-30's in the liveries of no longer existent but historic French operators .... including an impressive hybrid liveried logo-jet .... and 3 aircraft once operated on behalf of the national carrier of a major Caribbean nation.

The Boeing™ 787 Dreamliner™ is a tech marvel of aviation. Using advanced composites, fuel efficiency, new electrical designs, and new engine types, the 787 ushers in the future in aircraft design. You can now experience this airliner in FSX (soon to be available for P3D).

 

This product is an officially licensed product from Boeing™, and QualityWings has left almost no stone unturned in covering the vast array of features of the 787.

 

Choose between highly accurate and detailed models that include the 787-8, 787-9 models (the 787-10 is planned). Based on hundreds of drawings, photos, and videos, the exterior models replicate every small detail of the real airplane. Differences between each variant - such as for the main landing gear - are modeled in great detail. In addition QualityWings has made sure that material reflectivity, aircraft lights and animations closely resemble the real aircraft. There are over 100 Custom animations on the exterior models.

 

The advanced virtual flightdeck of the 787 has been painstakingly rendered in super-high detail with differences in the 787-8 and 787-9 flightdeck modeled. Included are comprehensive aircraft system simulations that cover the FMS with SIDS/STARS, fuel balancing function, realistic RR and GE engine models with matching EICAS indications, HUD, Electronic Flight Bag, Airport Display System, and a whole lot more.

 

The advanced sound system includes two incredibly realistic sound packages for the GE and RR engine variants. All sounds were recorded on the real airplane and include environment sounds that will immerse you right away.
